Texas legislators recently passed a bill requiring patients to complete an in-person exam before undergoing orthodontic treatment.
The bill was introduced following years of advocacy from the Texas Association for Orthodontists, the Texas Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists to add safeguards for patients receiving clear aligner treatment via teledentistry.
HB4070 will go into effect Sept. 1.
Texas is the eighth state to pass such legislation, following Georgia, Nevada, Florida, Illinois, Utah, West Virginia and Oklahoma.
