Louisiana lawmakers have passed a bill making Louisiana the first state to join the American Association of Dental Boards’ Interstate Dental & Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact.
Three notes:
1. The interstate compact aims to streamline dental licensing, alleviate workforce shortages and improve access to oral healthcare.
2. The IDDHLC is a separate interstate compact from the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact from the Council of State Governments, which 12 states have already enacted.
3. Eight other states have introduced legislation so far this year to join the compact, but Louisiana is the only state to enact it.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
