Orange, Calif.-based Sonrava Health and several of its dental subsidiaries have agreed to pay $540,000 to resolve allegations that it fraudulently submitted claims for reimbursement under Medicare and Medicaid.
The settlement is part of the Justice Department’s “National Healthcare Fraud Takedown,” involving 324 defendants in connection with more than $14.6 billion in alleged fraud, according to a June 30 news release.
According to the news release, Sonrava Health, Element Dental Partners, Mid-Atlantic Dental Services Holdings and The Jersey Dental Group agreed to pay the U.S. and the state of New Jersey $540,000 to resolve allegations that between Jan. 1, 2021, and July 31, 2023, the companies submitted fraudulent claims for reimbursement to Medicare Part D and the New Jersey Medicaid program. The claims were allegedly billed by uncredentialed providers or by using the National Provider Identifiers of dentists who did not perform the services but had the necessary credentials.
