A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Heartland Dental for its use of AI to analyze patient phone calls.
The lawsuit lists the lead plaintiff as Megan Lisota, a patient who alleges that her calls to a Heartland Dental-supported practice over the last two years were monitored by a RingCentral AI product without her knowledge or consent, in violation of the Federal Wiretap Act.
The lawsuit, filed July 3, covers all U.S. residents who made or received a phone call to or from Heartland Dental or a Heartland Dental-managed clinic that was processed by RingCentral. A jury trial was requested for the case.
Becker’s has contacted Heartland Dental and RingCentral for comment and will update this article once more information is available.
