Muhammad Adil Quraish, DDS, a former Air Force dentist, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud relating to pandemic relief funds.
From April 2020 through December 2021, Dr. Quraish worked with at least four co-conspirators to submit false applications for Paycheck Protection Program loans and an Economic Injury Disaster loan, according to a July 24 news release from the Justice Department.
Dr. Quraish intentionally inflated and falsified payroll information to receive loans for which the business was not actually qualified. In addition, Dr. Quraish falsified IRS tax forms.
Dr. Quraish and the co-conspirators personally profited nearly $1.5 million from the fraud. He faces up to five years in prison, the release said.
