North Carolina dental office reopens after owner’s death

Appalachian Dental in Franklin, N.C., has reopened as Legacy Dental Associates following the death of its former owner, The Southern Scoop reported Aug. 4. 

Jamie Melzer Jr., DMD, died Dec. 19. He was the owner and operator of Appalachian Dental for 10 years, according to his obituary. 

Appalachian Dental closed its doors after Dr. Melzer’s passing. However, his family reacquired the practice in April and recently reopened it as Legacy Dental Associates. The practice is now led by James Melzer Sr., DMD, Dr. Jamie Melzer’s father, and Virginia Vanegas, DMD.

The practice has also introduced new offerings for patients, including payment plans and discounts for veterans and seniors.
