ClearChoice Management Services has expanded its use of artificial intelligence over the years to enhance practice operations and patient care.

Rahma Samow, president and CEO of ClearChoice Management Services, recently spoke with Becker’s to share the company’s approach to AI and her hopes for the technology in the future.

Editor’s note: These responses were lightly edited for clarity and length.

Question: How has ClearChoice’s use of AI evolved over the years?

Rahma Samow: Our approach to technology and AI has matured from side experiments to becoming part of our core infrastructure. I believe AI only succeeds when three elements come together: robust and integrated technology, clean and trusted data governance, and a focus on solving the problems that matter most to patients and clinicians. And just as important — AI only works when it integrates seamlessly into existing workflows and produces tangible outcomes.

At ClearChoice, this has meant redesigning workflows, modernizing our tech stack to reflect the complexities of care delivery, and cleaning up fragmented data so outputs are meaningful. Equally important, we’ve reshaped our culture and improved patient flow processes — embracing the combination of new technology and AI as an enabler, not a threat. The human element remains central: AI exists to extend our clinicians and teams, never to replace them.

Q: How is the company using AI now for patient care and practice operations?

RS: We are intentional in how we use AI, and we design it to feel almost invisible. Having come from a medtech background, I believe AI only succeeds when it integrates seamlessly into existing workflows and creates tangible outcomes. That principle guides every implementation.

For prospective patients, we use Generative AI to streamline their experience with our care-coordinated team, resulting in faster scheduling and more communication touchpoints before even walking into the center. In marketing, we apply synthetic data for targeting, testing and spend allocation — in real time. Inside the centers, doctors use AI-enhanced solutions during consults to personalize treatment planning and streamline decisions.

On the operations side, the combination of new technology and AI is embedded into scheduling, consult management and patient flow to reduce bottlenecks, improve efficiency and free up more time for teams to focus on patients. It also helps streamline documentation and administrative work, but clinical judgment always rests with prosthodontists and oral surgeons.

All of it is embedded. And all of it is designed to extend our teams, not replace them. Human by design. Powered by data. Built to last.

Q: What have been some of the results ClearChoice has seen from its use of AI?

RS: The combination of new technology and AI solutions has made our processes far more streamlined — from the first patient touchpoint through treatment delivery.

For patients, it means faster access to care and treatment plans that are easier to understand and act on. That transparency has helped build greater confidence in moving forward with care.

For clinicians, it has simplified workflows and improved resource allocation, allowing them to spend more time focusing on patients while being supported by solutions that enhance, not replace, their expertise.

The combination of new technology and AI solutions makes care more efficient, consistent, and human-centered.

Q: What has some of the feedback been from patients and clinicians?

RS: Clinicians tell us that it improves speed and accuracy while supporting greater clinical consistency. Many also highlight how it helps teams work more efficiently together.

Patients, on the other hand, emphasize the experience: clearer treatment plans, shorter timelines and feeling more engaged in decisions about their care. That sense of confidence and peace of mind has been some of the most rewarding feedback we’ve received.

Q: How else would you like to see AI continue to innovate implant dentistry specifically?

RS: I see tremendous potential for the combination of new technology and AI to streamline the entire treatment journey. For example, advanced solutions could integrate diagnostic imaging, surgical planning and lab workflows into one seamless process—significantly reducing the time from consultation to final restoration while also incorporating patient-reported outcomes to measure success in ways that matter most to patients.

I also see opportunities for prospective patients. Generative AI already helps us streamline communication with our care-coordinated patient experience team, but there is still untapped potential. Smarter AI could further personalize outreach, anticipate patient needs earlier and connect people to care with less friction.

AI can also help personalize treatment by predicting long-term outcomes based on patient data, giving doctors deeper insight and patients greater confidence in their choices.

But the most important point remains: AI must empower clinicians, not create more friction or attempt to replace the workforce. The heart of implant dentistry is still the expertise, judgment and trust that patients place in their doctors.
