5 states with the most, fewest dental shortage areas

California, Alaska and Missouri and the top three states with the highest number of dental professional shortage areas, according to data from the Health Resources and Services Administration.

The HRSA updated its health professional shortage area dashboard Sept. 11. 

Here are five states with the most and fewest dental professional shortage areas:

Most

California: 545

Alaska: 333

Missouri: 324

Florida: 278

Texas: 272

Fewest

Washington, D.C. : 10

Delaware: 11

Vermont: 13

Rhode Island: 14

New Hampshire: 21
