A Missouri dentist who was charged earlier this year with drug trafficking and unlawful use of a weapon was ordered by a judge to shut down his practice, fourstateshomepage.com reported Sept. 26.

John Joseph, DDS, was arrested in March for the drug and weapons charges. He is also facing charges for his alleged involvement in a fatal hit-and-run case from 2023. The Missouri Dental Board asked the court in April to enjoin Dr. Joseph from “engaging in practices which present a substantial probability of serious danger to the health, safety or welfare of any resident.” The board requested that the court issue both a preliminary and permanent injunction to prohibit Dr. Joseph from practicing dentistry.

Newton County Judge Charles Genesio issued a temporary injunction earlier this month, ordering Dr. Joseph’s practice to close Sept. 21.

The injunction can be lifted if Dr. Joseph is acquitted or if charges are dismissed in both cases.
