The American Dental Association is advocating for CMS to support strategies aimed at expanding the oral healthcare workforce.
In response to new guidance for the agency’s Rural Health Transformation Program, the ADA highlighted the accessibility issues faced in rural areas and offered solutions to support the workforce for the agency to consider in future funding rounds.
Some of the solutions presented include support for oral preventive assistants, pathways for foreign-trained dentists to become licensed hygienists and participation in the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact.
