The Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition, which includes several dental organizations, wrote a letter to lawmakers urging them to boost investments for the healthcare workforce.

Five notes:

1. The letter was sent Nov. 5 to the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees.

2. The coalition pushed for lawmakers to finalize the FY 2026 Labor, Health, and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies bill with funding for the healthcare workforce.

3. The coalition also pushed for leaders to provide the “highest possible funding” for the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Title VII health professions and Title VIII nursing workforce development programs.

4. Although the coalition acknowledged lawmakers’ efforts to maintain funding levels for most programs and increasing support for other initiatives, such as Title VII oral health training, it also shared its concerns for proposals to eliminate funding for other programs.

5. The letter was signed by more than 40 organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research.
