Former employee charged with stealing $500K+ from Illinois dental practice

A former employee at a dental practice in Mattoon, Ill., has been accused of stealing between $500,000 and $1 million from the practice, according to a Nov. 17 report from WCIA

The charges filed by the Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office allege that Rebecca Gutierrez stole the money from Hastings and Havlik Family Dentistry between June 2020 and September 2025. 

Ms. Gutierrez pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested a jury trial. She is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 12, the report said.
