A new law aimed at improving dental care access and addressing provider shortages in Georgia will take effect Jan. 1, 2026, according to a Dec. 29 report from Capitol Beat.
Here are five things to know:
- House Bill 567 allows licensed dentists in Georgia to practice online dentistry.
- Dentists will be regulated by the Georgia Board of Dentistry under the new law.
- The bill also permits dental benefits plans to provide coverage for teledentistry services.
- Licensed dental professionals are permitted to provide consultations, second opinions, triage, evaluations and referrals via teledentistry.
- Gov. Brian Kemp signed the bill into law in May
