Periodontology leader dies at 87

Myron Nevins, DDS, a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology, died Dec. 24 at the age of 87.

Dr. Nevins was a world-renowned dentist recognized as a pioneer in periodontal and implant therapy, bone regeneration and tissue engineering, according to his obituary.

Dr. Nevins served as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He was also the founder of the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies and chaired 14 international symposiums on periodontics and restorative dentistry. Additionally, he received several honors and awards throughout his career.
