The MOVEit software suffered a data breach in 2023 that affected an estimated 2,500 organizations worldwide, including Delta Dental organizations. The New York Financial Services Department released industry guidance after the incident to help companies mitigate risk.
An investigation found that the Delta Dental companies’ incident response policies and procedures allowed threat actors to obtain unauthorized access to residents’ personal information, according to an April 30 news release.
The organizations’ cybersecurity program reportedly did not comply with the department’s cybersecurity regulations to protect consumer data and information systems. Additionally, the investigation found that the companies failed to report the incident in a timely manner.
