River Hills Community Health Center, a network of healthcare clinics in Iowa, is closing two of its locations that offer dental services due to financial challenges.

Four notes:

1. The center recently announced it will close its Richland and Centerville clinics July 31.

2. The two closures mean dental services will only be offered at the clinic’s Ottumwa location.

3. River Hills Community Health Center cited ongoing financial and operational challenges affecting healthcare organizations across the U.S., Ottumwa Radio reported May 12. These include workforce shortages, rising costs and reimbursement challenges.

4. The state has also faced the closure of other healthcare clinics in recent months. MercyOne announced the closure of two clinics in South Des Moines in April, citing cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. It also announced the closure of its Ottumwa clinic in January.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
