New York dentist charged in drug case

A New York dentist was recently arrested for allegedly prescribing and over-prescribing narcotics to patients he was not actively treating, WKTV reported May 13.

The New York State Department of Health and Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement began investigating 76-year-old Lawrence Marks, DDS, in January. He was arrested May 13 and charged with two counts of criminal sale of a prescription for a controlled substance by a practitioner and one count of falsifying business records.

Dr. Marks is being held at Oneida County Correctional Facility pending his arraignment.
