Health officials said three Trieu Family Dental Clinics, which is headquartered in Philadelphia, used improperly sterilized dental equipment and had lapses in injection safety. The clinics have been shut down since Dec. 7, when the health department first visited them.
Patients have been urged to get tested for HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B, although risk of infection is low, according to the health department.
Since the health department’s visited last year, it has been training the clinics on infection control. The practices will not be able to reopen until the health department gives its approval.
