Bangor, Maine-based Penobscot Community Health Care has opened a new dental center in Belfast, Maine.

The Seaport Dental Center will provide routine dental services in addition to acute cases and walk-in patients, according to a May 29 report from Maine Public Broadcasting Network.

A $1.3 million federal grant and more than $640,000 in donations helped to fund the eight-chair center.

Prior to the center’s opening, there was only one dentist for every 5,700 residents in Waldo County, Maine, the report said.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
