Dentists have the highest-paying salaries working in clinical facilities, government and insurance, according to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The agency updated its salary data May 15 to reflect 2025 information.

Here are five industries with the highest annual salaries for general and specialty dentists:

General dentists

1. State government, excluding schools and hospitals: $221,820

2. Other ambulatory healthcare services: $211,440

3. Insurance carriers: $209,570

4. Medical equipment and supplies manufacturing: $199,370

5. Outpatient care centers: $198,880

Specialty dentists

1. Dentist offices: $285,250

2. Outpatient care centers: $284,760

3. Federal executive branch: $221,020

4. General medical and surgical hospitals: $167,700

5. Physicians offices: $167,280
