From new legislation to a successful pilot program, here are five dental insurance updates impacting the dental industry, as reported by Becker’s since June 4:

  1. The American Dental Association released a report showing that a pilot program increased dentist participation in Medicaid and expanded access to oral health care for beneficiaries.
  2. The ADA urged federal lawmakers to pursue transparency policies that strengthen payer accountability and improve the patient experience.
  3. Michigan’s Senate Health Policy Committee advanced a package of bills that would establish a state-based exchange for health and dental insurance.
  4. Maryland enacted a law that expands assignment of benefits protections for patients and out-of-network dentists.
  5. The Rhode Island House of Representatives passed a bill that would expand reimbursement options for services provided by public health dental hygienists.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
