Three Washington dental practices have agreed to pay a combined $1 million to resolve allegations of fraudulent Medicaid billing.
All three practices were accused of submitting unjustified charges to the state Medicaid program. Two — Toothdocs in Camas and Comfort Dental in Vancouver — allegedly billed Medicaid for parenteral medicaments when the services actually involved over-the-counter ibuprofen. A third practice, Dentist at Felida in Vancouver, allegedly submitted bills for palliative treatments and jawbone procedures without proper documentation or medical necessity.
Toothdocs agreed to pay a $500,000 settlement, while Comfort Dental Vancouver will pay $230,000 and Dentist at Felida will pay $360,300, according to a June 24 news release from the Washington Attorney General’s Office.
