Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee recently signed two pieces of legislation that expand reimbursement options for services provided by public health dental hygienists.
Hygienists who provide services in public health settings were previously only allowed to be reimbursed from Medicaid and other state insurance programs, with limited exceptions.
Companion bills SB 2878 and HB 7837 allow these hygienists to be reimbursed from other insurers.
