Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine has welcomed its inaugural class of students, becoming the first new dental school in New York City in more than a century, The Jewish Link reported July 2.
The founding class of roughly 150 students — selected from nearly 2,000 applicants — completed a three-day orientation last month to mark the start of the three-year program.
The dental school campus includes a 130-chair clinic, Yeshiva Dental Health, which is expected to serve hundreds of patients per day and provide students with hands-on clinical training.
The dental school was established with the help of a $15 million gift from philanthropists Morris Bailey and Joseph L. Jerome.
