A court in China has issued a judgment in favor of Tempe, Ariz.-based Align Technology in its clear aligner patent infringement battle against Shanghai-based Angelalign Technology, according to an Aug. 11 news release from Align.
On Aug. 10, 2026, the court issued a judgment finding that Angelalign’s use of its MasterForce biomechanical simulation system and ATreat digital orthodontic treatment design system infringes Align’s patent rights.
In August 2025, Align filed multiple patent infringement lawsuits against Angelalign. Angelalign denied the allegations of patent infringement. In September 2025, Align filed a complaint to block Angelalign from importing clear aligners, alleging that Angelalign’s clear aligners used patented technology from Align without authorization.
The Jinan Intermediate People’s Court in China ordered Angelalign to cease using the patented technology and stop manufacturing and selling the infringing products in China. The court also awarded Align about $1.4 million in damages.
Angelalign may appeal the judgment to the Supreme People’s Court.
Align Technology has provided Invisalign treatment to nearly 23.5 million patients worldwide, the release said.
