A ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for an alleged cyberattack on eAssist Dental Solutions.
Four notes:
1. eAssist notified customers Sept. 8 that it is investigating a potential information security incident, according to the Georgia Dental Association. The company has not confirmed that customer or patient information was accessed or compromised.
2. DireWolf, a hacker group, reportedly listed eAssist on its extortion site and claimed access to the company’s internal systems.
3. eAssist advised its customers to change system passwords and remove old or inactive user accounts associated with its platforms.
4. Attorneys at Almeida Law Group said they are investigating whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of individuals potentially affected by the alleged data breach.
