An office manager at a Michigan dental practice has been charged with defrauding the state’s Medicaid program.
Lina Abraham, 41, worked at Dearborn (Mich.) Family Smiles. She allegedly used the clinic’s practice’s former name, Artistic Dentistry, to repeatedly bill Medicaid for dental crowns that were never provided, according to a Sept. 24 news release from the Michigan attorney general’s office.
Ms. Abraham was charged with one count of conducting a criminal enterprise, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $100,000. She was also charged with 14 counts of Medicaid fraud, with each count punishable by up to four years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000.
Ms. Abraham is due back in court Oct. 2.
