SmileDirectClub files lawsuit against California dental board & 7 other dental company notes

Here’s the latest roundup of dental companies that have been in the headlines, including Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners and SmileDirectClub.

1. Nonprofit dental organization California CareForce issued a statement Oct. 22 that it is in dire need of dentists, dental hygienists and optical professionals to volunteer at a free clinic Oct. 25-26.

2. Delta Dental of Michigan will integrate NovoDynamics’ NovoHealth Dental platform into its claims processing system.

3. Patterson Companies released a statement Oct. 16 regarding a Federal Trade Commission judge’s decision that the company had neglected to negotiate with dental buying groups.

4. Irvine, Texas-based U.S. Oral Surgery Management has formed a partnership with Clark Holmes Oral Facial Surgery of Alabama.

5. Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based Mid-Atlantic Dental Partners has acquired DentalOne Partners.

6. Biolase released its preliminary financial results Oct. 21 for the third quarter ended Sept. 30.

7. After a series of raids at its retail locations, SmileDirectClub filed a lawsuit Oct. 16 against the Dental Board of California.

8. A Federal Trade Commission judge ruled Oct. 16 that Patterson Companies and Benco Dental Supply Co. were guilty of conspiring against dental product buying groups.
