The California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act makes individuals of certain occupations, including health professionals, mandated reporters of potential abuse and neglect. Assembly Bill 1963, which took effect Jan. 1, expands the list to include human resources employees and certain supervisors working for a business that has five or more employees and employing minors.
Covered employers must provide employees who are mandated reporters with training in both identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect.
