Florida Dental Association to receive $225K to continue free dental care program

The 2021-22 fiscal year state budget recently signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis includes $225,000 for a state program that provides free dental care to people in need, The Capitolist reported June 3.

Florida Dental Association’s Florida Mission of Mercy is an annual two-day event held since 2014 in various cities throughout the state. The program has helped nearly 10,000 patients with care valued at more than $9.4 million. Services include oral health education, preventive services, nutritional counseling for dental disease, oral exams and additional dental treatments.
