Dental insurance tied to peace of mind, improved overall health: 6 Delta report notes

Most Americans said there are at least six benefits of having dental insurance, according to a Delta Dental Plans Association report released July 27.

Delta Dental Plans Association commissioned Kelton Global to conduct research from Dec. 28, 2020, to Jan. 8, 2021. A children’s oral health survey was fielded among 1,071 parents of children younger than 12, while an adult oral health survey was fielded among 1,067 American adults.

Below are six key report findings:

  • Overall, 96 percent of respondents said dental insurance coverage helps them maintain good oral health.
  • In total, 95 percent said dental insurance provides relief from having to worry about dental emergencies.
  • Most respondents (95 percent) said dental insurance brought them peace of mind.
  • Dental insurance made 93 percent of respondents feel as though they had the opportunity to lead a healthy life.
  • Ninety-one percent of respondents said dental insurance saves them money in the long run.
  • Overall, 91 percent said dental insurance is well worth the cost.
