Nationwide, 4,424 periodontists are actively practicing, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Data comes from a special request by the American Dental Association. Data was pulled in September 2021 from Redi-Data.

Below are states with the highest and lowest number of active periodontists.

Ten states with most periodontists:

2. New York — 425
3. Texas — 350
4. Florida — 294
5. New Jersey — 236
