Authorities said 69-year-old Denis Froehlich, DDS, presented himself as a retired dentist who could perform dental work from his home.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 10 that two people have accused Mr. Froehlich of performing dental work that left them disfigured and in pain. One victim reportedly had 13 teeth removed and the other victim had 11 dental crowns put in. Both people also said Mr. Froehlich refused to complete the dental work, they told the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
A search warrant at Mr. Froehlich’s home turned up weapons, meth and heroin-related items and dental items, according to Fox 10. Police also reportedly arrested Mr. Froehlich’s wife.
Mr. Froehlich’s dental license was revoked in 2013 for failing to respond to the state dentistry board about accusations of patient abandonment and substance abuse.
In 2019, Mr. Froehlich was one of two dentists indicted on charges of fraudulent schemes and artifices after being accused of performing botched dental work on an 86-year-old man.
