Dental reimbursement rates boosted via Illinois Medicaid program

Reimbursement rates for Illinois dentists have been increased under the state’s Medicaid program, the Illinois State Dental Society said Dec. 1.

Restorative services, dentures, extractions and anesthesia services are among those that dentists will receive higher rates of reimbursement.

For example, the rate for a comprehensive oral exam was $21.05 in 2020, but will be increased to $24.84 next year, according to fee schedules provided by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.

The rate increases go into effect Jan. 1.
