DentaQuest is the second-largest dental benefits provider in the U.S. by membership, according to a June 1 news release. It is also the largest provider of Medicaid dental benefits.
Sun Life announced the acquisition in October 2021. The benefits provider was purchased from oral health nonprofit CareQuest Institute for Oral Health and minority shareholder Centerbridge Partners, a private equity firm.
The acquisition is expected to bring Sun Life U.S.’ total annual benefits revenues to more than $7 billion.
