The American Association of Orthodontists and the National Eating Disorders Association will provide educational resources about eating disorders to orthodontists.

The resources are meant to help orthodontists recognize eating disorder warning signs and understand triggering behaviors and language, according to a July 21 news release.

“By understanding the etiologies of eating disorders, recognizing the mouth warning signs, and safely intervening, at an early stage, when appropriate, dental professionals can help the millions of Americans with these potentially deadly diseases start down the road to recovery,” Elizabeth Thompson, CEO of NEDA said in the release.

These resources will be available for AAO members and their orthodontic staff by this fall.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
