Florida Atlantic University to establish dental school: 6 things to know

Boca Raton-based Florida Atlantic University announced plans to open a dental school by 2025.

Six things to know:

1. During its inaugural year, the College of Dentistry will admit 45 students. It will then admit 90 students each year to reach a total enrollment of 350 students.

2. The school will offer a Doctorate of Dental Medicine through a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, The Capitolist reported Nov. 16.

3. This will be the fourth dental school in the state.

4. Staff will include 110 full-time educators, researchers and administrators.

5. The new school will be supported by a $30 million donation and be housed in a new facility on FAU’s campus.

6. The College of Dentistry will also operate under the FAU Health Network.
