4 dental education updates to know

A Florida university that announced plans for a new dental school and three other dental education updates that have taken place since Dec. 19:

1. Central Penn College in Summerdale, Pa., will add three dental practitioner programs to help fill workforce shortages in the state.

2. The University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill is using pharmacists to prevent opioid addiction.

3. The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in Oklahoma City received a $1 million grant from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, which will be used to establish the Dr. E.E. Kirkpatrick Dental Care Fund to ensure that underserved residents in the state receive comprehensive dental care.

4. Boca Raton-based Florida Atlantic University announced plans to open a dental school by 2025.
