Patients say Florida dentist ‘disappeared’ without completing treatments

Patients of Gutierrez Orthodontics in Tampa, Fla., claim their dentist is not responding to requests to complete outstanding procedures, NBC affiliate WFLA reported March 6.

The practice, led by Alex Gutierrez, DDS, has a note on the front door advising patients that the office will be closed for three weeks and that the practice is “doing an update to the system,” according to WFLA. However, patients told WFLA the note has been on the door for more than three weeks.

The note included a phone number, but no one responded when WFLA reached out.

Gutierrez Orthodontics’ website says “temporarily unavailable” and the phone number was disconnected when Becker’s attempted to make contact March 7.

Regarding her Invisalign treatment, patient Traci Hillring told WFLA, “I paid for it but it’s about halfway complete. No one answers. No one calls me back. It’s like he disappeared.”

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place November 12–14 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
