Dr. David Hamlar performs jaw surgery on MLB player

David Hamlar, MD, DDS, performed oral surgery on Minnesota Twins infielder Kyle Farmer on April 12, according to a tweet from a Twins communications and player relations representative.

Mr. Farmer was hit in the face by a 91.6 mile per hour fastball while batting in a game on April 12, according to a report from mlb.com.

Dr. Hamlar operated on the lower lip and bottom four teeth of Mr. Farmer at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. 

The team does not currently have an expected recovery time but will have more information in 10 days when the swelling has reduced and the external stitches have been removed.

Dr. Hamlar is a craniofacial skullbase surgeon at Regions Hospital. He is also an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
