SmileDirectClub announced Dec. 8 it would be shutting down its global operations immediately after efforts to recapitalize the business failed. The company said it is unable to provide support to its existing customers and that it would no longer offer its teledentistry services.
Through the new partnership, SmileDirectClub customers will have the opportunity to transition their treatment to continue in traditional brick-and-mortar dental offices. Patients will be able to schedule a virtual appointment with Teledentistry.com and receive referrals to a local OrthoFX dentist for further treatment.
In addition to doctor supervision, OrthoFX said its aligner treatment includes free consultations, flexible financing and remote monitoring.
