Candid shifts to business-to-business model

Clear aligner brand Candid will close all of its direct-to-consumer businesses, including its 45 studio locations, to shift to CandidPro service, a business-to-business model.

CandidPro offers a clear aligner orthodontic system using a telehealth model for dentists, DSOs and orthodontists, according to a Jan. 24 press release.

“This pivot is a huge bet on CandidPro,” CEO and co-founder Nick Greenfield said. “But it’s a bet we’re really comfortable making because over the last five years of testing, learning and iterating with our DTC business, we saw the true product-market fit of our CandidPro product. To offer the best dental care, you need dentists and orthodontists collaborating and we’re thrilled to be working in concert, not competition.”

The company plans to add CandidPro to more than 1,000 offices across 50 states by the end of 2022.
