Georgia bill expanding teledentistry to take effect: 5 things to know

A new law aimed at improving dental care access and addressing provider shortages in Georgia will take effect Jan. 1, 2026, according to a Dec. 29 report from Capitol Beat

Here are five things to know:

  1. House Bill 567 allows licensed dentists in Georgia to practice online dentistry. 
  2. Dentists will be regulated by the Georgia Board of Dentistry under the new law.
  3. The bill also permits dental benefits plans to provide coverage for teledentistry services.
  4. Licensed dental professionals are permitted to provide consultations, second opinions, triage, evaluations and referrals via teledentistry.
  5. Gov. Brian Kemp signed the bill into law in May
