Here are four things for dentists to consider when it comes to dental AI:

1. Common uses of dental AI include diagnostics and imaging, treatment planning, automated scheduling and patient engagement.

2. More advanced and newer uses of the technology includes predictive analysis, AI-powered robotics and teledentistry.

3. Risks of dental AI include data privacy concerns, diagnostic errors, algorithm bias, a lack of human oversight, ethical and legal implications and integration and usability issues.

4. Strengthening security measures by investing in advanced cybersecurity, training and educating staff, maintaining a human oversight by treating AI as an advisory tool, creating clear ethical guidelines, clearly defining legal responsibilities and carefully planning AI integration are methods to mitigate risks for dentists and dental practices.
