Dental hygienists in Alaska — the highest paid in the U.S. — make on average about $45.19 more than the state's minimum wage, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Department of Labor.

The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated ongoing staffing challenges facing the dental industry, largely affecting the supply of dentists, dental assistants and dental hygienists.
