The North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners is receiving more complaints concerning veneer technicians providing dental services, according to a Sept. 19 report by WCCB Charlotte.

Consolidation in dentistry, attracting private equity funding and cybersecurity issues are among the top challenges that DSOs are facing going into the fourth quarter of 2024.

The Virginia Dental Association named a new president, president-elect and secretary-treasurer to its board of directors for the 2024-25 term, according to a Sept. 19 news release.

Here are eight recent achievements made by DSOs and dental groups, including practice milestones, expansions into new states and more, as reported by Becker's since Aug. 20:

Maine has the highest number of orthodontists per capita out of any state at 8.56 orthodontists for every 100,000 residents.

The uptick in DSOs, rising dental school debt and the lack of reimbursement increases have resulted in fewer dentists remaining in independent or solo practices.
