30% of dental practices served patients with public insurance in 2020: ADA

Only 30 percent of dental practices in the U.S. cared for patients on public insurance, according to new data from the American Dental Association.

The data, published in a December report, shows the percentage of dental practices with patients covered by public assistance between 1990 and 2020. 

Percentages by type of practice:

General practitioners: 29 percent

Specialists: 37.3 percent

All dentists: 30.8 percent
