No. 1 healthcare provider Americans want to see more often? Dentist tops the list

A Delta Dental survey showed 42 percent of Americans would like to see their dentist more often.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Dentists topped the list of healthcare providers Americans want to see more often, followed by primary care physician, 29 percent, and dermatologist, 23 percent.

2. A quarter of Americans surveyed are extremely satisfied with their mouth, teeth and gums while 49 percent are somewhat satisfied.

3. Although 85 percent of people say oral health is very or extremely important, 15 percent rate their current oral health as excellent.

4. Reasons people the dentist:

• 58 percent visit the dentist at least once a year, down from 62 percent in 2016
• 52 percent made their most recent appointment for a regular checkup
• 17 percent made their most recent appointment to undergo a procedure
• 15 percent made their last appointment due to mouth pain
