Dental care can be seen as a luxury rather than a necessity for some patients.

Wallethub released a comprehensive report on dental care in the U.S. breaking down states with the best and worst dental care as well as where patients can find the most dentists. The organization compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 26 key indicators of dental awareness.

Here are the five states with the lowest dental treatment costs:

1. Alabama
2. Kentucky
3. Mississippi
4. Tennessee
5. Texas

Here are the six states with the highest treatment costs:

1. Connecticut
2. Maine
3. Massachusetts
4. New Hampshire
5. Rhode Island
6. Vermont
