California has the most employed dentists, followed by Texas and Florida, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The data from general dentists was gathered in May 2020 and posted online this year. There are 95,920 employed general dentists in the U.S., with a mean salary of $180,930.

3. Florida: 7,050
4. New York: 6,270
5. Illinois: 3,660
6. North Carolina: 3,120
7. Virginia: 3,090
8. Ohio: 3,070
